Privacy Policy

TourCast AI lets you snap a photo of any landmark and get an AI-narrated audio tour in seconds. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it. We collect only what we need to make the app work.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address and a hashed password, managed by Better Auth. We do not store your name unless you choose to provide it.
Photos you take
When you generate a tour, the photo you capture is sent directly to OpenAI for landmark identification. TourCast does not store your original photos on our servers. OpenAI may retain images per their own retention policy (see openai.com/privacy).
Location (GPS)
If location permission is granted, we send your approximate GPS coordinates to OpenAI alongside the photo to help identify the landmark. We do not log or store your GPS coordinates.
Audio tours
The AI-generated MP3 audio file for each tour is stored in Cloudflare R2 (cloud object storage) and linked to your account so you can replay tours from your library. You can delete individual tours or your entire account at any time.
Subscription information
If you subscribe, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple and managed by RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription status (plan, renewal date, tour quota remaining) but never receive or store your payment card details.
What we do not collect
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA or equivalent)
- Third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- Browsing history or cross-app tracking
- Contacts, calendar, or any data unrelated to tour generation
How we use your information
- Account management — sign-in, sign-out, password reset.
- Tour generation — relay your photo (+ optional GPS) to OpenAI and store the resulting MP3 in your library.
- Subscription gating — track your tour quota and entitlement via RevenueCat.
- Service operation — maintain the Neon Postgres database that holds your account and tour metadata.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

TourCast AI uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

Data retention
Your account data and audio tours are retained until you delete them or close your account. Tours you delete are removed from our storage promptly. When you delete your account, all associated data (email, tour records, audio files) is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Delete individual tours from the Library tab (swipe left → Delete).
- Request account deletion — email us at the address below and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
- Manage your subscription — cancel or change your plan at any time through Apple's subscription settings.
If you are in the European Economic Area or California, you may have additional rights (access, portability, erasure) under GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.
Children's privacy
TourCast AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
